She is Black Girl Magic: Meet Freshest Salad Bar Owner, Shanda Cadet

Multipreneur Shanda Cadet has recently celebrated two years in business as the first black-owned salad bar in South Fulton, Georgia. This new venture represents a significant stride in increasing diversity within the culinary industry. As a home-schooling mother of 9, she is proud to turn her dream of promoting healthier eating habits into a reality.  Shanda has not just opened a salad bar; it's a community-centric initiative aimed at promoting health and well-being in an accessible and inclusive way. Freshest Salad Bar also offers meal prep, catering, and private event space rental for the thriving community of South Fulton.

What does "Black Girl Magic" mean to you and how has this influenced your journey?

“Black Girl Magic” means we have something unique and powerful as black women. Tapping into this innate magic and confidence has empowered me to create businesses like Freshest Salad Bar.

Share your greatest inspiration as a high-achieving woman:

At this point in my life, my ultimate inspiration is my family. As a mother of 9, I’m inspired to keep going and leave a legacy. I make all of my business decisions with them in mind.

Tell us about the accomplishment you are most proud of:

Freshest Salad Bar! Knowing that there was a need in the community and solving that problem has been an exciting accomplishment. This endeavor has brought in all cultures to enjoy healthy options. There was a desert in South Fulton and I wanted to ensure we could access fresh fruits and vegetables without traveling far from the neighborhood. The community has been very receptive and happy that Freshest Salad Bar exists. Hearing their feedback makes me proud to be the first black-owned salad bar in Atlanta.

What advice would you share with the next generation of young Black women?

Don't let anything stop you! We have the internet, google, pen, and paper, so whatever you dream of, you can do. Don't stop with the thought, but take consistent action towards it. Also, remember to incorporate balance and self-care throughout your journey.
